Location: Kuwait Designation: EGL Programmer Experience: 10 yrs Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a relevant discipline. Contract :One Year Extendable Preferred Professional Qualifications: Should have completed EGL and Rational Business Developer training, preferably IBM certified application developer RBD V7.1. Job Description and Required Knowledge: The EGL Programmer will have the necessary qualifications and knowledge to perform the following functions: 1. Drafting detailed technical designs based on the functional and technical specifications; 2. Designing software in accordance with the laid out technical and information architectures; 3. Unit-testing own work; 4. Communicating the progress and the estimates to the project team; 5. Supporting other developers on the project; 6. Documenting own work; 7. Creating IBM Rational Enterprise Generation Language (EGL) Programs, Libraries, Services, and JSFHandlers to deliver business functionality 8. Programming statements to define and declare EGL primitive data, DataItems, Records, and EGL properties 9. Coding EGL Structured Query Language (SQL) and data access statements to read and write from programs to external databases and files 10. Analyzing whether an SQL statement is efficient, and code it differently if necessary 11. Creating EGL business logic at or near the production requirements specification level in terms of: Complexity, Breadth and Scope Experience: The ideal candidate will have over10 years of programming experience with minimum of 3 years of experience with EGL. The candidate will have well structured work habits with capability to meet deadlines against project schedules. 1. Experience with developing and working on mainframe applications; 2. Experience in programming using WebSphere Studio Enterprise Developer; 3. Knowledge of generating COBOL with the aid of EGL; 4. Knowledge of products such as IBM WebSphere, MQ Series as well as the mainframe OS environment; 5. Knowledge of software development methodologies such as RUP or Agile; 6. Communicative, representative in both speech and writing. 7. Self-reliant, able to organize own work and analytic; 8. Good knowledge of English. Following knowledge/skills are preferable but not mandatory: 1. Enterprise Database experience (DB2); 2. IBM Websphere Portal Server knowledge; 3. Knowledge of other development environments than COBOL (e.g. J2EE, PERL, PHP) 4.
