Senior Web Developer - Shelter - London - UK

We believe that everyone deserves a safe and permanent home – and through tireless lobbying, campaigning and advice work, we’re fighting to make this happen. Our website has a vital role to play in our success. In addition to communicating our messages, it provides online housing advice to around 4,000 people a day, while bringing in a significant amount of our voluntary income.

For this reason, it’s all-important that our site has strong technical support and management – minimising any down-time, and ensuring that it can stay fully operational during a crisis. You’ll be key to achieving this goal, in a role that’ll see you:
• Advising on key aspects of our digital strategy
• Enabling us to make the best possible use of new technologies and platforms, transactional processes and security, and data integration
• Identifying new and innovative opportunities for further growth online
• Assisting in the assessment and management of risk
• Leading the technical decision-making process in case of a crisis
• Overseeing the development and building of our websites
• Managing two junior web coders and designers
• Enabling us to improve our online service delivery, attracting more support and generating more income

You must have:
• Demonstrable passion for all things online
• Impressive end-to-end project management skills
• Strong UX and design abilities
• Knowledge of CSS, HTML, Javascript, JQuery, Actionscript 2/3, Flash, PHP, graphics packages and SQL
• Personal maturity and superb communication skills
• Commitment to the highest levels of usability, accessibility and functionality
• Ability to work under pressure and react to fast-changing situations
• Understanding of digital marketing

This is a great opportunity to join an exceptionally creative team and support the work of Britain’s foremost housing charity.
Benefits include 30 days holiday and flexible working. We are committed to giving all applications equal consideration.
