Unix Systems Administrator - Singapore

Responsibilities:
• Install & setup the server operating system AIX, Sun Solaris, HP-UX, Linux and operating system utilities.
• Monitor and analyse server utilisation, availability and traffic.
• Add, change, delete or revoke Userid's that access operating systems and/or subsystems using access control software as per established security standards
• Manage, via change control, the operating system configuration and validate integrity of system configuration files
• Perform problem determination and resolution and report on outcome of troubleshooting
• Perform and schedule daily operation tasks, e.g. Security log review.
• Evaluate security advisories, assign a risk value and complete APAR in the time frame appropriate to the rating. (incl. arranging downtime to apply fixes, perform backup, download fixes)
• Periodically conduct manual and automatic health checks and create & evaluate Health Check Reports
• Provide analysis of system performance and capacity trends and make recommendations
• Provide system administration and operational support for high availability clusters (e.g.,AIX HACMP, Veritas Clustering, HP Service Guard)
• Provide administration and operational support for OS bundled software (e.g. sendmail, ssh, etc), external storage (e.g. ESS, FastT, etc) and SAN
• Be prepared to work shift duties (if required)
Requirements:
• Must be able to communicate in good conversational English (including good interpersonal skills)
• Proficient in Linux LSF skills, Sun Solaris, AIX, HACMP, HP-UX, Linux
• Proficient in Veritas (Cluster Server, Netbackup, Volume Manager & Filesystem) and SunFire E25K
• Must have good and sufficient skills in handling Servers
• Ability to code simple scripts for automation purposes. E.g. scripting.
• Ability to co-ordinate activities and is systematic
• Possess initiative and drive, and is willing to learn and adapt to the changing IT environment
• At least 3 years working in a similar work function and working environment
Secondary “Good To Have” skills
• Proficient in TSM
• Experience in GPFS clustering preferred
Candidates are required to have either AIX or Solaris as their core skills or the combination of experience on the other 2 or 3 platforms (HP-UX or Linux).
